{"id":109,"date":"2009-07-01T16:04:34","date_gmt":"2009-07-01T23:04:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/garden.mygreatvet.com\/?p=109"},"modified":"2009-07-01T16:04:34","modified_gmt":"2009-07-01T23:04:34","slug":"the-veggies-i-like","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/garden.mygreatvet.com\/?p=109","title":{"rendered":"The Veggies I Like"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Time to start a list of successes verses failures.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll begin with the successess.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sweet Peas, planted from seed, directly in the garden.\u00a0 They&#8217;ve been just gorgeous this year.<\/li>\n<li>Kohlrabi, purchased as starts from Cenex\u00a0in a 2 by 4 inch pot<\/li>\n<li>Swiss Chard, Bright Lights &#8211; also purchased as starts like above.\u00a0 There were soooo many in that little pot!\u00a0 Great economical way to get them and they transplanted very well.<\/li>\n<li>Savoy Cabbage &#8211; Haven&#8217;t had any yet but they look like they are growing well.\u00a0 Purchased them as starts and there were lots of them to transplant, way more than I need most likely.<\/li>\n<li>Shallots &#8211;\u00a0Not sure what to say here.\u00a0 The bulb sets grew very well and divided many times.\u00a0 Problem is, I planted them in small pots so they didn&#8217;t have enough space to really grow.\u00a0 Not sure how they will turn out in the end.<\/li>\n<li>Tomatoes, purchased as started plants in\u00a0various sizes.\u00a0 The started plants seem to do a whole lot better than the newly seeded ones.\u00a0 The issue most likely is time.\u00a0 Got to get a head start on them next year and be sure to keep them growing.<\/li>\n<li>Leeks, purchased as starts in a 2 x 4 inch pot.\u00a0 There were 100&#8217;s in there.\u00a0 Way more than anyone could possibly want.\u00a0 They seem to be coming along fine.<\/li>\n<li>Celery and celeriac &#8211; purchased as starts but there were only 4 &#8211; 6 plants in each pot.\u00a0 They seem to be growing well, and how many could I possibly need anyway.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Time to start a list of successes verses failures.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll begin with the successess.
